Pathos – Album Review by TheImmortalHottentot

Hello MikuDB! Today, I’ll be looking at the newest album from electronic artist Yunosuke, Pathos. It looks like Yunosuke is relatively new as a Vocaloid producer: they started releasing songs in 2014, their first mini-album dropped in 2015. I havn’t heard any of their work until this album, but if it is in any way representative of the rest of Yunosuke’s songs, then I’ll definitely be giving them a listen soon.

Pathos is a very solid album. It consistently delivers hooking beats and entrancing sounds coupled with great vocal tracks. Osamu did excellent work with the voice manipulation on this album. It’s crisp, but flows effortlessly with the music, and I think the sound of Miku’s voice fits perfectly into this style. I can’t find a track that I dislike. They all have that catchy, danceable feel that should come in all EDM, and maintain great quality in sound and composition.

Some of the songs I particularly liked were “Pathos,” “ExTeNdEr,” and “頂のノア,” I also liked “Lovin’ You” for being especially danceable and “ただ、切なくて。” for its funky lead bass. Also of note is the album artwork by Yotsuba, which I find quite beautiful.

As I said before, I think this is a great, solid EDM album. Even if you’re not a big fan of electronic music, I think it’s worth giving Pathos a listen. It also struck me that I would recommend this album to people who may not be into Vocaloid but like EDM, because of how well the vocals compliment the sound.

You can buy Pathos and Yunosuke’s other works on Bandcamp and iTunes. You can stream the songs on the artist’s Bandcamp, YouTube, and Soundcloud pages. VocaDB, for convenience.

Thank you for reading! Feel free to share your opinions and recommendations!

  1. Minor addendum: Over the past week, I’ve been listening to this album on repeat. I notice now that I didn’t have much to say about it when I first reviewed it, but this might turn out to be one of my favorite Vocaloid albums of 2016 so far.
