Sup guys this is Deathspark, and welcome to my first album review, which is on Desktop Cinderella. The reason I chose this song was because I never gave this a listen yet. So what are we waiting for?
NOTE: My reviews are opinion based. I’m not always right. Not everyone enjoys the exact same thing. J
Oh, and I’ll usually give it one time listens, one shot. So, if a song doesn’t make me go yay, it doesn’t get into the Song Highlight, so yeah now you know how I work.
Album : Desktop Cinderella
Genre : Electronica (Or Techno, correct me if I’m wrong)
Song Highlight : I My MeaN
Let’s begin with the intro. Honestly, I liked it. It made me excited for the rest of the album. Usually intros are either quite meh or nothing special. This one was great, but I usually won’t let the intro fool me. I only care about what else is in the album, the songs themselves.
If you listened to a lot of Hachioji – P, you will actually notice that his song style has changed a little. If you listened to albums like Blackout or Twinkle World, you will notice that it use the same song samples, which made me “Oh, this again…” Using a new and fresh style makes me feel refreshed so I’m glad I’m not going through the same thing again.
What I like
(From this point onwards, I will only talk about the songs I highlighted or dislikes, if I never mentioned any other song; they are just average to me.)
I’ll begin with I My MeaN (Track 6). I have mentioned before that Hachioji-P’s songs usually have that certain feeling, using the same samples again and again. This song is one example on what I mean. It feels fresh, happy and new to me. I like it because the song feels cheerful, which is what I love! 😀 Sure some other songs are happy too, but the reason I highlighted this was because it’s catchy and it feels awesome to hear it.
What I don’t like
The songs are all above average, I got nothing to comment on it.
Personal Opinions
(Usually at this section, I will talk about remixed songs because I want to compare with the original or if there is any song I want to talk about.)
Sweet Devil remix (Track 8) is a slower paced version, which may be great for some, but to me, it’s, well, okay…? I prefer the original, honestly. It has a much more powerful feeling. It just, doesn’t feel right I suppose?
Beautiful Nightmare (Track 10) felt like Magnet with it on drugs, some electronica drugs. Wasn’t a fan of magnet. So this? Erm, it’s fine to me, it’s not bad, but not super good.
Happy Birthday (Track 13) seems to be waaaaaay different than every other song in the album. This one feels calm, suddenly @@; It’s okay, not overwhelmingly awesome.
Conclusion
We reached the end of the album. The ending song wasn’t really superb, I love the intro more. It kind of transitioned from super upbeat to calm at the end. I didn’t expect it, but it happened, so yeah. The verdict? Well, if you love Electronica music, you will love this. If you don’t like pitched cutesy voices or electronica music, well this album isn’t really for you.
Should you buy this album? : Yes
Will Deathspark buy this album? : No
Reason: Unfortunately, I just don’t feel it, so I’m afraid these kind of albums won’t make me desperate for me to buy it. That does not mean you shouldn’t buy it though. If you liked the songs, buy it.
Hey man! Have you heard Little Bad Scarlet Girl? Because imo it’s actually one of the most anticipated song in the album, it also has its’ own MV! You can check it out man!
If I did not highlight it, it simply means to me it was average. But hey, like I said, if you like it, it’s your opinion 🙂
Yeah it’s cool everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just wanna share the love 😉
EVERYBODY SAY YEAH! YEAH!! YEAH!!!
– favorite song
I almost gave a highlight on that one, but it wasn’t enough! >< The album isn't bad really! 🙂
Actually, I think you should buy an album even if they contain just one song that you enjoyed, since low demand means killing the industry.
Although they each isn’t really expensive….
Moreover, purchasing those album should be much more easier nowadays.
Sorry, I wish I could buy these albums if I do earn money! I am still studying in university now, so once I do earn my own cash, I will buy albums. Sorry, but that’s how I work unfortunately. No, how my family works… :<
Worth purchasing as a Hachioji-P fan since I came to really like a bunch of tracks on it, the (oddly despised) “Sweet Devil” remix (I found this to me an awesome driving song :P), “Yeah! Yeah!! Yeah!!!” , “CMYK” and “Little Scarlet Bad Girl” to name a few. I agree on some tracks his style has changed ever so slightly but TBH I like it since it does keep it fresh and new.
In short I loved it, worth owning on disk. 🙂
That’s great 🙂 Like I said, it always depends on what you want, so if you like it, buy it! I know it’s a little unjust for me to not buy them, but I have financial constraints so until I can start earning cash, I’ll start buying albums 🙂
i think this album quite good actually, i like most of the songs here, “CMYK” sounds like EDM song nowadays, and its cool i think.. maybe people can enjoy their vodka, and dance with this song >u<
