Mikufan2015’s Album Review #5: re:TUNED.

I know petrichor already did this 7 months ago, but the first request on the list was this album. I know some might point out, “Hey Miku this is from 2 years ago why not do something recent?” Well ya see, I have only been a Vocaloid fan since September 21, 2015 (Yes I remember this. I downloaded Supercell that day) and I would like to give some old albums some love, much needed and give creators more attention, as I have mostly listened to the main vocaloids for 3 months before expanding to other vocaloids/utiate. From the looks of it this will be a diverse album. Let’s go! Miku Stars are back!! From what I’ve heard about this album it’s quite the rage over in Indonesia.

Track #1: Dandelion – Farhan feat. GUMI

Nice wind intro. GUMI was always a good voice bank for me to listen to, as she is more matured than Miku. Her maturity helps out here. Her singing and the relative peacefulness of the music has me really enjoy this piece. These types of music are the ones I tend to enjoy a LOT. So far liking this album. 3.5/5

Track #2: Tsuki no Shita ni Kokuhaku/ Confession Under the Moon – Vesuvia feat. Yuzuki Yukari

That jazz music intro… Jazz isn’t really present at all in my library (please correct me if I’m way off on genre) except for a couple of Meiko and Kaito songs. I’m not being picky about this song or anything, but it’s not my type of song that I’d enjoy all the time and be jamming out. It’s an ok song for me. Like last album you may have different opinions as my favorite song was one no one had heard of and not a popular one. 3/5

Track #3: Kokoro no Kakera (Mixtrelle Arrange)/Pieces of My Heart (Mixtrelle Arrange) – Genese, crafTUNER feat. Hatsune Miku

You probably expect me to go “It’s a peaceful song, I love it!”, but I don’t. It seems like a carbon copy of a couple songs that I have, and I just don’t feel this song. Maybe some of you will love this song but I’m not feeling the vocals and the music. I won’t elaborate on this song much as there are other songs and not just this. 2/5

Track #4: Palsu/Fake – idoyklik feat. Megurine Luka

Look’s like we got a rock song here, Luka’s used for rock songs mostly, eh? I love how the music is going on with the guitar and cymbals and all going on in the background. Luka’s voice is very fitting for this track. The music shows that this album won’t be all the same so next song! 3.5/5

Track #5: Home – Genese feat. Hatsune Miku

Got dat classical music next. At least so I thought. I wouldn’t call it that because it doesn’t fit under anything completely. I’m kind of split of the usage of Miku’s voice in the song as the are other vocalists that could fit here but the producer used Miku for a reason and I like the usage of her in this. Feels kind of “Homey” eh? (Sorry just had to make the pun.) The orchestrated music is very enjoyable and it’s quite, peaceful to listen to and so far I’m enjoying this album. 3.5/5

Track #6: Fate Fraction – aoWAVE feat. IA

Ma first IA track here.  It’s a song with waves of energy. (Get it? no? waves of energy? aoWAVE?) I love how the saxophone is used in this song and that bass? Is just the best! I’m not sure what to tell you about this song as it really speaks for its self. If your not going to get this album at least try this song. IA just has this voice that isn’t to high pitched like most voicebanks but isn’t Luka low. So far I’m loving this track. 4/5

Track #7: THX4CMИG – idoyklik feat. Megurine Luka

I’m liking this intro a lot! Luka has this sort of raspy sort of feeling when listening to her and it isn’t a bad thing for Luka it’s a great thing that is helps separate her from other vocaloids and that really helps out this song be as good as it is. I’m only hatin’ on one thing. It’s only 3 min? I’m enjoying the softness to this song and Luka fits this song perfectly. Even the distortion part is good! 3.5/5

Track #8: Boundless – PG2125 feat. Megurine Luka

This track is good. I’ll have to say I didn’t expect the wub wub dubstep at all. It’s not the best track I’ve seen in this album yet I’m not hating on this track. I’m really middle ground with this. 2.5/5

Track #9: HeLiOSPHERE – aoWAVE feat. IA

Is IA used for a lot of Jazz? Overlord if you’re reading this respond you IA lover. I wish I had started listening to IA a while ago! This song is just the right amount of peace and upbeat that I just enjoy a lot. It isn’t too loud and jamming out type of music, but is more of an easy to listen to when relaxing. Instant fav. 4/5!

Track #10: 4U (Extended Mix) – crash_test feat. Hatsune Miku

How long is the original song? It must be short considering how this song is. This song reminds me of Tell Your World and some others as well. I’m not trying to blow these songs away and get this done but 4U may just be too unoriginal for me and I can’t have too many of the same sounding songs or they just get too bland. To be fair. 2.5/5

Track #11: Summer Day – Vamaera feat. Hatsune Miku

This fit well with a summer theme and I could see myself listening to this on a summer day at the beach! It’s upbeat and vibrant with it’s sound and doesn’t have much to complain from me. There aren’t any things I’m hating about this song. 3.5/5

Track #12: Memories Beneath the Sky – Farhan feat. Hatsune Miku

The intro rather is a bit different from the full song. It has a sort of jazz like sound to it, but yet I wouldn’t call it jazz as it isn’t just that. It also is sort of a pop feeling to the song as well. While there isn’t much REMEMBERABLE about this song I’m not shooting it down. Its a still rather good song. 3/5

Track #13: Don’t Leave Me Alone! crash_test, Ecky feat. GUMI-

Easygoing song at first but then the hip hop kicks in. GUMI has this maturity in her voice that I love about her. At about 1:30 the song is with her singing with the music supporting her voice is just great. Its very different from the songs in a way that I’m liking. At first I didn’t really like the hip hop sound to it that’s there but it helped out the song and made it sound better and made it its own song. 3/5

Track #14: Game aoWAVE feat. IA-

It doesn’t SOUND like game music necessarily but that’s not what we’re reviewing here. I’m liking the string intro and the nice feel to the song as it isn’t trying to be loud but easygoing. The guitar strumming in background and IA’s voice is just perfect. The bass drum and snare keeping pace makes the song even better. The song is only 3 minutes long so there isn’t much time to enjoy the song first run through. 3/5

Track #15: Uragiri No Memeto – Vesuvia feat. Hatsune Miku

Meh, this song isn’t my favorite at all as I’m not a big fan of violin sadness sounding rain music. It’s not my cup of tea yet I know some will enjoy this. 2/5

Track #16: StarGaze (Radio Edit) -PG2125 feat. Megurine Luka

The song sounds more like EDM , though I’m probably wrong because I’ve never looked at music genres. I’ve never heard StarGaze (some of your are going to yell at me it’s probably wrong.) This isn’t usually enjoyed by me but I find an exception for this song. 3/5

Track #17: Yamerarenai Koto -Vesuvia feat. Yuzuki Yukari

Yuzuki is just one of the best voices I’ve heard. I’d call this maybe pop with some jazz elements. This album is filled with great songs and this is a great example of one. The piano up and down adds a sort of elegance to the song. There’s a mixture of melodies that really blend together and help out the song to be better. 4/5

Final Track: Thank You!-crash_test, REDSHiFT feat. Megurine Luka

At first I though this was a Luka cover of 39 but it’s not. I LIKE IT MOAR. The piano and the claps along with the beat is what I’m liking about this so far. I like the final track to be ending the album out with a bang and this lived up to my expectations. Athough there are some things that just aren’t my cup of tea in this song. I’ll give it a 3/5

REQUEST!

Do you guys think my articles should be a tad shorter? Or like the way I talk about articles with my 100+ words per track? Just want to know and improve. You guys are the reason I do this and because I needed a hobby and wanted to help out a website. Also for those that are going to ask I might have the Miku Expo 2015 Compilation updated and uploaded to either Google Drive or 4Shared by this friday or next wednesday. Sorry for this taking 3 weeks. I’ve been just way too busy with only an hour of free time and sometimes none for the day. With essays and final exams for weeks and weeks on end and band concerts and high school orientations I’m sure even you are tired and without free time, but don’t fret! I’ll be back. Next time a rinny centuty album. Hint Hint. Don’t worry you’ll see me on facebook on saturday and sundays! FML.

3.5/5 It has a song for everybody so check it out!

  1. No, is just this particular producer who uses IA in a lot of jazz music. I’m glad you like all the IA songs in the album, I actually recommended the album 😛
