emonloid 5 (Review by Deathspark)

Today, I shall review another album called emonloid 5. I’m really excited to review this because I truly love this album! J emon is a very underrated composer, so I just wanted to shed some light on him.
NOTE: My reviews are opinion based. I’m not always right. Not everyone enjoys the exact same thing. J
Oh, and I’ll usually give it one time listens, one shot. So, if a song doesn’t make me go yay, it doesn’t get into the Song Highlight, so yeah now you know how I work.

Album : emonloid 5
Genre : Electronica
Song Highlight : Sweet Life, my feeling emotions, 恋のお心(According to Google Translate, this is Love your Heart. I don’t know what it’s really called… K), ばけらぶ! (Ghost Love!), サテライト(Satellite)

As usual, I will begin with the intro. The intro doesn’t disappoint me. It has that happy feeling as if you are preparing for a happy day. Just in case you don’t know, emon’s songs are usually happy, like super happy. Google up shake it! In Youtube and you’ll see what I mean.

What I like

I have a lot of favorites here; I’ll do my best to describe all of them and their feelings.

Sweet Life (Track 2) straight away chaining from the intro song! You can immediately feel the energy of the song before you could even realize it. In fact, the first time I heard this, I almost thought this was the intro song… I liked the way it is uplifting and cheerful. The sounds feel fresh and happy. It feels like you’re walking around in a futuristic carnival where everything is happy happy happy! 😀

my feeling emotions (Track 4), is quite a dubstep-ish song, but it doesn’t run away from the happy theme. I managed to find the English subs for this so I can try to explain the song’s meaning. It’s a story of a girl who’s trying to get her boyfriend’s attention. It’s a cute song if you ask me. Miku is kind of portrayed as an over obsessive girl in this song, definitely wouldn’t want that… @_@;

恋のお心 (Track 5) is a slower and cheerful song compared to both songs above. Before I continue, forgive me for not getting the English subs or finding the English title. I tried, but, well just get the album and find track number 5! Anyways, about the song, although it feels slow, it still feels, comfortable? I don’t know what word would fit this song, but it kind of reminds me of being in a shopping mall and you kinda found what you needed after a long search. Maybe it could be different for some of you? I don’t know, give it a listen and tell me what you think!

ばけらぶ! (Track 6) is a super hyped up song. It’s pretty fast and catchy. It has a story too, thus the title name Ghost Love! The story is pretty much about a spirit following a girl wherever she goes. The girl kinda has an affection on the ghost later on, so yeah, that’s pretty much about it. The girl is quite the tsun tsun (If you get what I mean) from the way the song was played. I like the way it sounds funny and fun at the same time. It kind of reminds me of running to class when you’re late and you encounter a lot of stupid obstacles and you’re like “OH GOD! FREAKING AHHHHHHHHH!!!!”

サテライト (Track 9) is a little trance-ish. It’s called Satellite, and the song itself does sing a lot about satellites… Well, I’m not sure if there is a story behind this, but it’s like explaining about the life of a satellite. Huh, who would have thought making a song about satellites would actually happen. Pretty cool if you ask me. The reason I like this song was because it kind of changed how trance should be. Well, more like trance fusion with happiness in it, sort of.

What I don’t like

黒髪のレラート(Track 7), 星空のライオン (emonLoid5) (Track 8) and 飛人(Track 10) had this slow startup which made me, bleh… Once again, I can’t get any info on any of these songs. Tell me if you can translate them or know them. Usually I don’t like songs which have a slow startup (Slightly biased maybe?) but some of you may like it. For me, I didn’t like it because it kind of delayed the best parts, which is something I don’t like in Trance music.

Personal Opinions
Congratulations to me for talking about every song in the album. I will talk about the song most of you will probably wonder why I never highlighted. Y (Track 3) is a song probably loved by some emon fans (or most). For me, it wasn’t really super good or super bad either. It’s average to me so I didn’t highlight it. I will usually highlight songs that make me excited but this one is okay, it’s not bad. I wouldn’t say it’s extremely good either. Most of you may disagree with me, but it’s my opinion alright? @w@;

Conclusion
If you need a super duper happy song, well don’t wait. If you don’t like cutesy songs or sweet songs, by all means, please avoid this.

Should you buy this album? : Yes
Will Deathspark buy this album? : Yes
Reason: If this was sold in iTunes, it’d be nice. I can’t buy albums because I am not working yet and I’m not rich so if I had the chance to buy this album, yes I will. J

I’d give this a 4/5 because iTunes said so 😛 Usually I’d see the iTunes overall rating. I may give my own if I think the overall rating sucks.

    • Please do, it will be worth it! 🙂 emon is quite underrated and the only big hit he has is shake it. I hope he gains more popularity because his songs are super awesome 😀

  1. Any chance to purchase emon’s albums outside of iTunes? Emon is by far my favourite Vocaloid composer and I’m loving emonloid5 and I’d love to support him one way or another.

    And thanks for reviewing it 🙂
